Rule of rock songs

Just heard an awesome quote by Mark Nelson of The Shiny Things - listed among his 10 commandments of Rock and Roll: Thou shalt not write songs you can't play drunk.

I'm not one who espouses playing in any shape other than straight - but there is a beauty to the idea of a song that is well written but so simple you could play it drunk. That is most likely a song people will remember and connect with.
